He was also a chemistry instructor. Meanwhile, at the age of 18, Giacomo Simoncini joined the Sammarinese Socialist Party and was elected to the executive board a year later.

5. IRAKLI GARIBASHVILI

He had previously served in Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili’s cabinet as Minister of Internal Affairs from 2012 to 2013. When Ivanishvili stood down willingly in November 2013, he picked Garibashvili as his successor as Prime Minister.

Irakli Garibashvili was only 31 years old when he was elected to the prime ministership for the first time, breaking the jinx as the world’s youngest prime minister. He was also the world’s second-youngest state leader, after Kim Jong-un.

6. NAYIB BUKELE

10. Volodymyr Zelensky: Volodymyr Zelensky, a well-known Ukrainian comedian, and actor made history in 2019 by becoming the youngest president in the world at the age of 41.

He achieved an impressive electoral feat by winning a resounding victory over the incumbent President Petro Poroshenko with a massive 73% of the vote. Since taking office, Zelensky has been actively tackling corruption, seeking to mend relations with Russia, and striving to bring about a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. In 2008, he oversaw Bhutan’s transition to a democratic constitutional monarchy and became its first elected Head of State. He held the position until 2018 when he abdicated in favor of his son. Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is currently 42 years old.

Saleh Ali al-Sammad: Saleh Ali al-Sammad was a Yemeni politician who became one of the youngest presidents in the world, taking office at the age of 37 as the head of the Houthi political council in 2016. He played a significant role in the Houthi insurgency in Yemen and was known for his hardline stance against the Saudi-led coalition.

Unfortunately, he was killed in a Saudi-led airstrike in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of conflict and turmoil in Yemen. If he were still alive, he would be 43 years old today.

13. Emil Dimitriev: Emil Dimitriev is a Macedonian politician who served as the youngest President of North Macedonia from May 2021 to August 2022, at the age of 42. Before his presidency, he held various high-level government positions, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

Dimitriev is a member of the center-right VMRO-DPMNE party and his presidency was marked by efforts to advance North Macedonia’s EU membership bid, improve the country’s economy and fight corruption. He resigned from the presidency in August 2022 following a political crisis sparked by disagreements with the ruling government. Dimitriev currently serves as a member of parliament in the North Macedonian Assembly.
