Obafemi Awolowo UniversityIle-Ife is one of the best universities in Nigeria. The university is among the top 10 universities in almost all the ranking of universities I have seen. OAU was established in 1961 to facilitate the bringing of education to everything part of Nigeria. Today, OAU is apparently one the universities that has produced thousands of great personalities in the country. It has also been recorded that OAU has most of the brightest students in Nigeria. This is why the university usually host and participate in many inter university competitions.
In my opinion, OAU is very competitive. In other words, it is very difficult to gain admission into the university because of the high number of students that apply for admission every year.

The Main Campus of Obafemi Awolowo University is situated in Ile-Ife, and the Distance Learning Centre (DLC) is situated in Ibadan. The DLC is in charge of organizing all of the university’s distant learning programs, while the Main Campus serves as the center for all academic and administrative activity.
Two rocky hills and the main core are visible from Road One, a 2.5 km road that serves as the university’s main entrance. The roads in the university are numbered. The Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Library, Secretariat, University Bookshop, Oduduwa Hall, and the Faculties of Arts, Education, Law, Administration, and Social Sciences make up the core, which is a quadrangle made up of the university’s public buildings.
Three black buildings with four floors were the first to be finished in January 1967. These blocks, which are connected by walkways to the other faculties in the quad, became the Humanities building. These buildings first resembled inverted pyramids or enormous boats, but the form was chosen due to the area’s humid, tropical climate, as each storey protects the one below.
Around the campus, there are piazzas, gardens, and terraces in addition to pedestrian walkways and pergolas that allow people to navigate between the offices located around the quadrangle. Roads surround the quad on all sides, and beyond those are other academic buildings.
The student union building is accessible from the front or inner road on the main core’s southern end (road 2). The computer science building, as well as the faculties of pharmacy and health sciences, are located along route two. Access to the modern languages building and the African traditional-styled building containing the African studies department, a museum, and an exhibition hall is provided by Road 5, the outside road at the northwest corner of the quad.
