About Delta State University (DELSU)
Undoubtedly, Delta State University (DELSU) is the dream of thousands of students in Nigeria. The university is one of the most popular and soughted universities in Nigeria too. According to Wikipedia, DELSU was established in 1992. At that time, the university was affiliated to the University of Benin, Benin City. However, in 1985 it became the Faculty of Education of the then Bendel State University with its main campus at Ekpoma.
Despite the fact that DELSU is one of the youngest universities in Nigeria, it is really competiting with most of the best and popularly known universities today.
When it comes to offering admission to candidates, I must say that gaining admission into DELSU is relatively easy. What that means is that, when compared with other universities in Nigeria, DELSU is easier to gain admission into.
Does DELSU accept second choice candidates?
No! Despite that fact that it is easier to gain admission into Delta State University (DELSU), the university does not offer admission to people that make them a second choice. In other words, DELSU does not accept second choice candidates for admission.
To corroborate this, the management of DELSU stated it several times last year; that admission into the different departments and faculties in the school, is only available to those that made them first choice of institution during JAMB registration.
So, if you are an aspirant of DELSU, and you made the university your second choice, there is probably no way you can gain admission into the school. It is apparent that you will not be offered admission.
Nonetheless, if you wish to change DELSU from your second choice of institution to your first choice, there is actually a solution for you. Yes! JAMB knows that aspirants are likely to make mistakes during JAMB registration and that is why there is the JAMB CHANGE OF COURSE AND INSTITUTION FORM.
With this form, you can change or make any institution your first choice.
However, you are also expected to apply for this form as soon as possible, if you wish to use it. There is usually a deadline for application. So, if you don’t get your JAMB change of course and institution form on time, you may not be able to change your courses again.
Why DELSU don’t accept second choice candidates
Frankly speaking, no one knows exactly why DELSU does not offer admission to candidates that make them a second choice. However, from my research, I will say that it is actually a policy the school keeps.
A friend of mine applied for admission into DELSU last year, but he was not given admission even after scoring about 306 in JAMB. So, i cannot actually say it is because the university is looking for the best students.
