It is also one of the most popular universities in Nigeria. This is why many students apply for admission into the institution every year.

When it comes to offering admission, I must confess that it is not easy to gain admission into UNIBEN. Yes! It is true that it is not easy to gain admission into any Nigerian university but UNIBEN is something else.

Both the admission requirements and departmental cutoff mark of the university is very high. The reason is because UNIBEN is one of the most competitive and popular universities in Nigeria. Below, i will answer the questions as to whether UNIBEN accept second choice admission or not.

Does UNIBEN people that make them second choice?

The answer is No! UNIBEN does not accept second choice candidates for admission. To corroborate this, the management of the prestigious University of Benin (UNIBEN) have stated in their website that admission is strictly for aspirants that made them first choice in JAMB.

Be it UTME or Direct Entry admission, UNIBEN will not accept second choice candidates. In light of that, candidates that make the university their first choice are actually wasting their time since the university will not offer them admission.

Why UNIBEN does not accept second choice

The reason why UNIBEN does not accept second choice candidates for admission is because the university usually have thousands of students applying for admission every year. So, in order to reduce the number of students that apply for admission every year, the university decided to restrict her admission to only students that make them first choice in JAMB.

Sometimes, even candidates that make UNIBEN their first choice of institution still don’t gain admission because of how competitive the university is.

What to do if you have already made UNIBEN your first choice

If you have already made the University of Benin (UNIBEN) your first choice of institution, then there is one tentative solution for you. You have to apply for JAMB change of course and institution form as easily as possible. This form will allow you to, either replace the university with another institution or simply make the university your first choice of institution.

Please note that there is usually a deadline for JAMB change of course and institution form. It is better you apply for this form as soon as it is released.
