UNIPORT admission requirements 2020/2021: As an aspirant of the prestigious University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), it is very important that you know the requirements for UTME and Direct Entry admission into the university. The reason is because, if you do not meet the requirements for admission in UNIPORT, the university may not offer you admission.

So, today I will be disclosing the UTME and Direct Entry admission requirements for candidates aspiring to study in UNIPORT. Basically, the reason why I am sharing this is to educate students so that they won’t make mistakes when deciding the institution to attend in Nigeria.

About the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT)

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) is one of the most populated and prestigious universities in Nigeria. It was established in 1975 as a tool for bringing education to every part of the country. The main purpose of the school is to ensure enlightenment and self-reliance amongst youths in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

UNIPORT is not only recognized in Nigeria. The university is also known abroad. For instance, The university was ranked the sixth in Africa and the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education (THE) in 2015. This should tell you how reputable this school is.

Gaining admission into UNIPORT is not very easy because, many students apply for admission into the university every year. In fact, UNIPORT is a very competitive school when compared with other state universities in Nigeria.

As at the time this post was made, UNIPORT does not accept second choice candidates for admission. It also has the strictest admission requirements because the university only offer admission to candidates that meet all the admission requirements of the school.

Now that you know all this, I will share with you UNIPORT Admission requirements for Direct entry and UTME candidates into the university. Make sure you pay attention to every information below.

UNIPORT Requirements for UTME Admission

Below are the requirements for UTME admission into the university of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT):

  • UTME Candidates must have at least, 5 Credit grades in five subjects (Including English and mathematics) in their O’level result. This could be WAEC/NECO/GCE or any equivalent result.
  • Candidates must be at least, 16 years at the time admission is offered.
  • Candidates must make the University of Port Harcourt their first choice of institution during JAMB registration.
  • Candidates must score at least,180 in the just concluded JAMB UTME examination.
  • Candidates are expected to choose the correct subject combination for their desired course to be offered admission. Wrong subject combination will not be allowed.
  • Candidates must purchase UNIPORT post UTME form, participate in the examination and pass excellently well. Poor post UTME score may not be admitted even if candidates performed very well in JAMB.
  • UNIPORT does not offer to candidates that have inconsistencies in the names or date of birth.

Note: All UTME candidates should note that UNIPORT does not accepts second choice candidates for admission.

UNIPORT Admission requirements for Direct entry candidates

Below are the requirements for direct entry admission into the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT):

  • Direct entry candidates are required to purchase Direct Entry form from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)
  • Direct Entry candidates must also have at least, 5 Credit grades in five subjects (Including English and mathematics) in their O’level result. This could be WAEC/NECO/GCE or any equivalent result.
  • Candidates must have a qualifying examination result (O’level, A’level, Diploma, NCE, and Degree respectively). This must be detailed, showing the pass level and points.
  • Direct entry candidates are required apply within the registration period as the online link for the Application Form will be disabled immediately it reaches the deadline for application.

Note: Direct entry candidates will be required to reach some certain score to be considered for admission.
