Due to the numerous students asking this same question, i have decided to answer the question publicly. Hopefully, I will be able to reach out to many aspirant of FUTA after making this post.
First, i must confess that I am glad that aspirants are actually asking this question because, often times many students don’t even care to know about an institution before making that institution their choice of institution. No doubt, this is one of the reasons why many students don’t end up gaining admission after meeting all the admission requirements and cutoff marks required for admission.
The truth is that; some institutions in Nigeria don’t accept second choice candidates no matter what. Today, i will disclose to you whether the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) actually accept people that make them a second choice when offering admission. Please make sure you share this information after reading because you might save someone from making a very big mistake this session. Here we go!

Does FUTA accept people that make them second choice?
No! Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) does not offer admission to candidates that make them second choice. In other words, to gain admission into the prestigious FUTA, you must make the university your first choice of institution in JAMB.
To support this, the management of FUTA always make it known to aspirations, whenever post UTME application is announced, that admission is only open to candidates that make the university a first choice. So you see, it is actually official. In fact, if you made FUTA your second choice of institution this year, you are actually wasting your time. Nonetheless, if you really want to change the university from your first choice to your second choice or totally replace the university with another school, there is a tentative solution for you. The solution is to apply for JAMB change of course and institution form for just N3,500 only.
JAMB actually understand that candidates are likely to make mistakes when choosing their courses or institution. Thus, they made provision for JAMB change of course and institution form for aspirants. So this could be an opportunity to everyone who made FUTA a second choice to change it. Nonetheless, you must not forget that there is usually a deadline for JAMB change of course and institution form. So, if you really want to get this form, you must apply for it as soon as possible.
Why FUTA don’t accept candidates that make them second choice
First, you will agree with me that FUTA is actually one of the best Federal University of Technology in Nigeria. It has also been recorded that among all the universities in Nigeria, FUTA is one of the most soughed universities. The policy of not accepting candidates that does not make the university a first choice is usually used to reduce the number of students the eventually apply for admission into the university.
This is apparently one of the reasons why the university is does not accept second choice candidates. Restricting admission to only first choice candidates also helps the university to fish out the best candidates out of the thousands of admission seekers that apply for admission every year.
